As we turn the page to a new chapter at Hunters Hill Sailing Club, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the incredible momentum we've built and the exciting direction ahead. From a well-attended Annual General Meeting to a vibrant presentation night celebrating our sailors’ hard work and achievements, the spirit of community and passion for sailing is stronger than ever. With a refreshed management committee, a clear vision for the future through our upcoming Club Master Plan, and a full calendar of racing and events, we’re set for another fantastic season on and off the water.
From President Matt W
The Hunters Hill Sailing Club held its Annual General Meeting this past Saturday, and we’re excited to announce the new management committee for the coming season.
I’m honoured to return as president, joined by Ben Howell as commodore, Nick Livermore as vice commodore, Kristen Hopkins as treasurer, and Jason Chai as secretary. Our ordinary committee members are Angus White, Sean Maguire, Andrea Phillips, Richard Vowles, Nick Lawson, Alex Varey, and Sophie Hunt. A heartfelt thank you to each of them for stepping up and committing their time and energy to the club. We’re incredibly grateful for their dedication to making it a fantastic place to sail.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the outgoing committee members for their outstanding contributions: Kevin Burman (former commodore), David Oxnam (former treasurer), Sylvie Stannage (former secretary), Andrew Livermore (former commodore and ordinary committee member), Nuala Stewart (ordinary committee member and canteen coordinator), and Jon Byrnes. Your hard work and commitment have left a lasting impact. A special mention to Chris Stannage for his continued support—while he’s stepped down as president, he remains on the committee as immediate past president.

Enormous gratitude to past president Chris Stannage πΈ Eliza
A key outcome from the AGM is the launch of a Club Master Plan process. This will help define our shared vision and priorities for the years ahead, guiding how we use our resources to strengthen the club. We’ll be calling on members to participate in shaping this vision—stay tuned!
After the AGM, we gathered for our much-loved presentation dinner. It was a fantastic evening, filled with laughter, recognition, and celebration of our sailors' dedication and achievements. Special thanks to Ben Howell for putting together a memorable presentation, and to our brilliant MCs—Alex Parker, Sophie Borner-Harrison, and Zac Howell.
We were also pleased to welcome members of the Rotary Club of Hunters Hill to the evening. They were thoroughly impressed with the event, particularly how our young sailors presented themselves and the welcoming culture of the club. With their strong focus on supporting active, healthy lifestyles for local youth, we look forward to building a long and fruitful partnership. Thank you to Rotary president Barbara Enright, treasurer Kathy Boyd, and the entire club for their support.
AGM minutes will be shared with members. Here’s to an exciting season ahead!

WASZP Class
The demo Waszp has been at the club since March, and despite tricky conditions, our group of 10–12 sailors has been steadily learning to foil. Huge thanks to Max Fisher for the initial coaching and to Harper and Zac, who’ve led most sessions.
Foiling progress has been impressive—with guest appearances from Alessio, Jason, and Luke showing that foiling is truly for all ages π
We hope to have the Waszp back in June.
Good luck to Max as he heads overseas to join the Nastro Rosa Tour in Italy π Nastro Rosa Tour. The six-week regatta including the Waszp class hits 9 sailing venues!
Looking ahead, over 250 boats are registered for the Waszp Games 2025 in July at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (the 2012 Olympic venue). It will be the first Games featuring the new 7.5m sail class!
Meanwhile back at the club, some of this…

But also some of this…
