From the President
What a spectacular showing at the final Opti Interclub event! Hosting so many races in such light air was a masterclass in race management. Huge thanks to Alessio for coordinating, and to Ben for his usual excellence as RO. To everyone who ran the BBQ, canteen, ramp, radio, support boats, and baked those delicious treats—you showed off the absolute best of HHSC. (I reckon we’ll get some serious airtime for Disney+!) Our Green Fleeters also had a brilliant time learning from Belle and Matt.
Thank you also to those who volunteered their time and effort in the weeks leading up to the regatta to prepare the club. Special mention to Elizabeth Newton for many hours of work organising the kitchen and disposing of boat trailers, Jefferson Rose and Zac and Kirra Howell who were at the club at sunrise to water blast the ramp as well as the countless Opti and ILCA parents who mowed and re-organised the boat park. All of your efforts are appreciated and were vital to the success of the regatta.
While school holidays are officially here, don’t let the boats gather dust. Take advantage of those crisp, strong westerlies to keep your skills sharp. A quick reminder while on site: please stay vigilant about keeping our bathrooms and boatshed clean. We all need to take pride in our facilities.

Finally, our big mid-winter event, Frost on the Foredeck, is just around the corner on Saturday, 8 August. Go check out the silent auction, there are some awesome prizes to be won. Tickets are selling fast, so secure yours now! And if you can’t make it you’re welcome to make a tax deductible donation.

This weekend is our last weekend of classes for Term 2!
It’s been a fantastic term for all of our L2S and T&T groups.
Our Teens & Tweens group made some massive improvements over the term and can now all confidently sail a Zest single-handedly. Awesome work, sailors!

Michael Thompson Teens and Tweens πΈ Belle
This term our Pro group joined forces with our Greenies for three adventure sails, exploring different spots around the harbour. The Pro parents had the opportunity to come out on RIBS driven by our Greenies parents and watch. They were also lucky enough to be greeted with sweet treats from some of our waterfront HHSC families along the way—thank you!

L2S Pro πΈ Mira Kim
The action didn’t stop there. Last weekend our Pro sailors took part in their first-ever regatta, joining the Interclub Greenfleet and putting all the skills they’ve learnt this term to the test. They all did an amazing job, congratulations!
Amongst all the Opti hustle and bustle, our Rookie and Momentum groups swapped their Tackers boats for RS Quests, giving them the chance to sail (or float... thanks to the lack of wind!) with each other and their coaches.
Term 3 classes will recommence on 25/26 July and registrations are now open here. Please make sure you log in to your sailor's HHSC account before registering.
We hope everyone has a great break and look forward to seeing you back on the water in Term 3!

HHSC Hosts a Memorable Finale to the Optimist Winter Interclub Series
Hunters Hill Sailing Club was proud to host the final round of the 2026 Winter Interclub Series, welcoming over 80 sailors and their families for a fantastic day both on and off the water.
The weather certainly kept everyone guessing, delivering everything from no wind to just a little bit, sunshine, showers and even a rainbow π¬οΈβοΈπ§οΈπ. Somehow, between all that, we still managed to get some great racing in!
As always, HHSC did what it does best , delivering another top event with outstanding organisation, warm hospitality and an incredible team of volunteers who made the day run seamlessly from start to finish.
The canteen was once again a standout. With what has now become an unofficial Opti mums’ baking competition π€£, sailors and parents were treated to an amazing spread of homemade cakes, slices and sweet treats that disappeared almost as quickly as they arrived. Combined with a fantastic BBQ and plenty of coffee, nobody went home hungry!
A huge thank you goes to every volunteer who gave up their time, whether setting marks, running the race, helping on the water, working in the canteen, cooking the BBQ, baking, setting up or packing away. Events like this simply don’t happen without your dedication and generosity.
The day also featured an outstanding Green Fleet, with an impressive 25 boats taking part. It was fantastic to see so many young sailors out on the water, with Matt and Belle doing an exceptional job running Green Fleet. Managing 25 enthusiastic Green Fleet sailors is no easy….judging by the end of the day, it’s fair to say Matt and Belle had definitely earned a well deserved rest! π€£
Our Open and Interm sailors were just as impressive on the water, producing an outstanding performance across the entire three-event series. Their consistency and determination saw HHSC dominate the overall standings, claiming all three podium positions in the Open Fleet and securing the Interclub Overall Club Champion and Open fleet title for the third consecutive year.
