From the President

As the 2025/26 season gets underway and the warmth of summer lingers, many of our members are still drawn to the water—and there's plenty to enjoy in this exciting part of the season! Whether you're new to sailing, keen to improve your racing skills, or simply want to soak up the joy of being out on the water, our club has something for everyone.

Now is the perfect time to renew your membership via our website and lock in your place for the year ahead. If you store a boat at the club, don’t forget to renew your storage at the same time. Please remember that coaching and camps are available only to current members.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to invite you to our annual presentation dinner on May 24th—a special evening to celebrate the season’s achievements and connect with fellow sailing enthusiasts. Tickets are selling fast, so head to the homepage and book yours today!

We look forward to seeing you at the club and out on the water throughout the season.

From the Commodore

Hunters Hill Sailing Club around the world

Sylvie Stannage and Matthew Quinlan have just completed another exciting leg of their European adventure—Semaine Olympique Française (French Olympic Week) in Hyères, the venue for the 2024 Olympic sailing regatta.

  • Sylvie delivered a standout performance, finishing 15th overall, first Australian, and scoring a 7th place in the Gold Fleet races.

  • Matt wrapped up the event in 48th overall in iQFoil, 5th Australian, and snagged a 9th place finish in the Silver Fleet.

A proud shoutout to Matt for entering under "Hunters Hill Sailing Club" rather than just "HHSC"—a great way to put our club on the international stage!

We’re not exactly sure where the next stop is on their global tour, but we suspect they’re aiming to be back for the first race of the 2025 HHSC Winter Frostbite Series.

2025 Hunters Hill Sailing Club Winter Frostbite Series

The Notice of Race is now live: View the NOR

Our frostbite series offers a fun way to stay active over winter, with four long-course races, one per month, open to all classes. Expect matchups like 49ers vs Optis, parents vs kids, instructors vs students—everyone sails the same course, and results are calculated using the Australian Sailing Yardstick.

Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall will be presented after the final race—no results will be released before then. Just sail fast and enjoy it!

  • No separate fee or online entry required

  • Sign up on the day

  • Ensure your membership and boat storage are paid in advance.

Winter training

All classes now have their winter training times confirmed. Coached sessions are available for Optimists, ILCAs, and 29ers.

Learn2Sail

After a fantastic April School Holiday Camp, we’re excited to dive back into weekend Learn to Sail (L2S) classes starting this weekend—3rd and 4th May!

A warm welcome to our new members who joined us following the holiday program—we’re thrilled to have you aboard!

A quick reminder to all participants—please ensure you have both:

  1. A current 2025/2026 season membership, and

  2. Registered for your L2S class via the Training Sessions page on our website.

Registrations must be completed at least 48 hours before your session starts.

Read on for a step-by-step guide!

As the weather cools—especially during Sunday morning classes—please remember that club wetsuits and spray jackets are available for use. You’ll find them at the back of the shed near the change rooms.

If your child is using club gear, please ensure they arrive with enough time to get changed before their class begins.

Term 2 classes—important info & how to register

All Term 2 sailors must renew their club membership before registering for classes. Membership & registration: Click here

Please note:

  • Renewing your membership does not automatically enrol your sailor in Term 2 classes.

  • Although weekend classes are included in the annual fee, separate registration is required so we can manage class sizes and coaching allocations.

  • For insurance and safety reasons, sailors must be registered at least 48 hours before class starts — otherwise, they’ll be asked to return the following week.

How to renew membership & register for classes

  1. Register your child as either:

  • “Youth Member” ($580 – includes Learn2Sail), or

  • “Teens & Tweens Learn2Sail & Learn2Race” ($850). You can use a $100 NSW Active Kids Voucher to reduce the fee. Also register yourself as a “Non-Sailing Adult” ($145). Register here

  1. Once memberships are complete, log in to the club website (top right corner). This will unlock access to all members-only training programs. Click “Account” in the top right menu.

  2. Head to “Training Sessions”:
    View and book classes
Select the session you’d like to sign up for.
