The Hunters Hill Sailing Club was established in 1961 as the Hunters Hill Junior Sailing Club. The club is a volunteer-run, family-oriented local sailing club that focuses on introducing those of all ages, but particularly children to sailing. Originally based at Onions Point at the mouth of the Lane Cove River, the Club moved to its present site at Woolwich in 1971.
The Club has over the years achieved distinctions in racing at State, National and International level across a range of dingy and sailboard classes with Club sailors attaining a life-long passion for the sport. Over recent years we have created a vibrant year round sailing schedule, with our popular "Pleasant Sunday Morning" winter race series, our fabulous "Asymmetric Weekend" held on the last weekend of August each year, and regular Sunday racing for Junior and Senior classes.
A key plank of our program is our focus on our teens and tweens ... we aim to provide teenagers a safe space to figure out who they are as young people; to challenge them and support them in that challenge with excellent coaching and support infrastructure; and to encourage them to develop a mixed gender peer group that is at least as strong, if not stronger than, their school peer groups.
We welcome new sailors into our Learn2Sail, junior and youth programs and sailors returning to the sport who are looking for a friendly Club to join, along with their families. The HHSC Sailing Committee organises the Program and answers any questions parents/guardians might have.
Hunters Hill Sailing Club honours and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of Country.
