Racing

Racing is conducted from August to April in five classes of sailing dinghies; Sabots, F11's, Mirrors, Lasers (Full, radial & 4.7) and NS14s. The racing is highly competitive in all classes with many sailors from other clubs attracted to HHSC to hone their skills.

The Club monitors and responds to the popularity of various classes and chooses to conduct races in those that can demonstrate consistent and active fleets.

For the current season the following race program is to be conducted:

Sunday Morning - Juniors
Learn to Race/Sabot 0930
Nippers training 0930
Warning Signal (not before) 1155
then RRS 26 start sequences in the following order:
Sabot 1-up
Sabot 2-ups
Short Course/Transition

Sunday Afternoon - Seniors
Warning Signal (not before) 1410
then RRS 26 start sequences in the following order for Club Championships:
Laser Standard Rig

Laser Radial
Laser 4.7

NS14
Mirror
Flying 11
 

Following order for Pointscore Races:

Laser Standard Rig and Radial (2 short races)
Laser 4.7 and F11 (2 short races)

All racing is controlled by the Commodore (who acts as or appoints the Officer(s) of the Day) and the Sailing Committee . Class Secretaries are responsible for setting handicaps and recording results.
